Samsung has announced they will offer free screen replacement for their Galaxy devices through the Care+ service starting in January 2025 (reported by 9to5Google).
Samsung Care+ is an extra coverage plan for Samsung phones, tablets, and watches that help pay for repairs or replacements in case of damage or theft, similar to AppleCare.
Usually, if you break your screen, you still have to pay a reduced price for repair. But with the new change, starting in January next year, Samsung will offer “Zero Dollar Screen Repairs” for people with Care+.
This new benefit is automatic for Care+ subscribers and covers repairs for the front screen and back glass of the device. However, it doesn’t seem to apply to the foldable screens of Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices.
There’s a catch, though: this Samsung free screen replacement offer is only available to those who subscribe to the more expensive “Care+ with Theft and Loss” plan.
Samsung explains in an email to Care+ subscribers:
Effective January 15, 2025, Samsung and Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss will be introducing ZERO DOLLAR SCREEN REPAIRS. This coverage will apply to damages that impact the front screen and back glass only. In addition to Mail-In Repair and Walk-In Repair options, Care+ customers will continue to have the option of screen repair at their location of choice.
Care+ customers with eligible plans* will automatically be eligible for this coverage after January 15, 2025.
