Samsung is currently testing the new One UI 7 update, which is based on Android 15. This update will first come out with the new Galaxy S25 phones, which they’re going to show off on January 22. After that, it’ll go to older Galaxy phones, starting with the Galaxy S24 models.
There’s some exciting news about the Galaxy S24 from a well-known tipster on X, Ice Universe. He says that fingerprint unlocking will get quicker on these phones.
Not only will it be faster, but the sound when you unlock your phone will also be clearer. He even shared a video of someone using a Galaxy S24 Ultra to show how fast it can be.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 already uses really good tech for fingerprint scanning – ultrasonic sensors. These are better than the optical ones because they work even if your fingers are wet.
But sometimes, the software made unlocking feel slow. This new One UI 7 update seems to fix that by speeding up the animations. You won’t have to turn off those animations to make things quick anymore, although they could still improve this a bit more.
The tipster claims this new version will be faster than the last one, One UI 6, which is great news. This improvement should be in the next beta update of One UI 7, coming out pretty soon.
We’ll keep you posted when it’s available. So, if you own a Galaxy S24, expect your phone to feel a bit more responsive soon.
