Last week, Samsung decided to share the love by rolling out the Galaxy S25 series to us, the masses. And what’s the buzz this month? New features, of course!
Mishaal Rahman over at Android Authority let us in on an exciting tidbit: the Galaxy S25 introduces a feature called “Suggested Replies.” This isn’t just any reply; it’s AI-powered, working its magic through the Samsung Keyboard on apps like WhatsApp.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting – or maybe a bit restrictive. This feature sits snugly within the Labs settings, only playing nice with the Samsung Keyboard. So, if you’re a fan of Gboard or SwiftKey, you might feel a bit left out.
The feature’s demo was quite telling. Imagine you get a message asking, “Which AI assistant is better, Galaxy AI or Apple Intelligence?” With Suggested Replies enabled, your phone might suggest responses like “both have their pros and cons.” Handy, right? But remember, you’ve got to pick or tweak these suggestions before hitting send.
I love how this could speed up my reply game, but I’m also a bit wary. Does AI really get the nuances of human conversation, or are we just getting pre-packaged responses?
Interestingly, while this works like a charm with WhatsApp, it didn’t play well with Google Messages. Why? Well, Google has its own version called Smart Reply, which might be why they’re not sharing the sandbox.
Here’s the deal – for Suggested Replies to work, your messages need to be processed on your phone. Samsung isn’t spilling the beans on if they’re using Google’s Gemini for this, but they do ask you to look at the Galaxy AI’s terms and conditions. Transparency or a peek behind the curtain?
