iOS 18.1 rolling out with Apple Intelligence

iPhone 16

Apple kicked off the long delayed rollout of AI (Apple Intelligence) features with iOS 18.1 update. iPhone 15 Pro/Max and iPhone 16 series users can now access artificial intelligence features after updating to the iOS 18.1.

Though the rollout starting late, iOS 18.1 includes the first set of Apple Intelligence features. The array includes letting iPhone users refine their writing; summarize notifications, mail, and messages; experience a more natural and capable Siri; remove distracting objects from images with Clean Up; and more.

Keep your iPhone’s language set to US English to activate Apple Intelligence features. The iPhone maker pledged more languages will be supported gradually. We got access to an official language and regional expansion rollout shared by Apple for iPhone, iPad and Mac users, as follows:

  • December 2024 – English in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK
  • April 2025 – Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and other languages

AI that’s deeply integrated with iOS

Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools lets users refine their language by rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text virtually. These tricks will be functional not only in Mail, Messages, Notes, Pages but also on third-party apps.

  • Rewrite: It allows iPhone users to choose from different versions of written text, and adjust the tone — professional, concise, or friendly.
  • Proofread: Using it, users can check grammar, word choice, and sentence structure apart from suggesting edits.
  • Summarize: iPhone owners can easily select text and have it summarized in the form of a digestible paragraph, bulleted key points, a table, or a list.

Siri with AI

AI-powered Siri is the biggest upgrade included in iOS 18.1 update. The integration of Apple Intelligence capabilities into Siri has made it more natural, flexible and deeply blend into the system experience.
