The best-selling smartphones for Q3 2024 have just been revealed by Counterpoint Research. Together, these top 10 phones make up about 19% of global smartphone sales.
As we think, Apple’s iPhones take the top spots, with the iPhone 15 being the best-selling phone globally, followed by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro.
Samsung has a strong presence with five phones in the top 10, while Apple has four and Xiaomi has one. This shows that Samsung is gaining ground, although overall Apple is still ahead.
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 is also doing a great job, staying in the top 10 for the third quarter in a row. This is the first time since 2018 that a Galaxy S series phone has made it into the top 10.
Samsung also hold the mid-range category with its Galaxy A series, which took four ranks in the top 10. The Galaxy A series offer good features, as well as being eligible for software updates for a long time.
Finally, Xiaomi’s Redmi 13C made the top 10 for the third consecutive quarter with a rank of 9th. Its affordable price and good specifications make it a strong choice in emerging markets.

Both Apple and Samsung are focusing on AI and excellent specs (also on slim phones) to stand out in the flagship smartphone market. This strategy will help them stay on top as they continue to attract more customers.
