Apple is working on a smart doorbell camera with Face ID

Doorbell camera

Apple is reportedly working on a new kind of doorbell camera that works with Face ID, just like on your iPhone. This could be out by the end of 2025, or maybe even sooner.

Imagine this – you walk up to your door, and instead of fumbling for keys, you just look at the camera, and voila, your door unlocks! It’s like magic, but it’s all thanks to the same tech that lets you unlock your phone with your face.

This camera will have a special chip, called the Secure Enclave, which keeps all your face data safe, just like on your iPhone.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg says this new camera might work with the smart locks you already have if they’re part of Apple’s HomeKit system. They might even team up with a company that makes smart locks to give you everything you need right from the start.

Also, this camera is going to use a new chip from Apple called “Proxima” which helps with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and it’s expected to be in some other new Apple gadgets next year.

Apple seems to be stepping up its game in the smart home area. Besides this camera, there’s talk about another camera, a new TV, and even screens for your home – one would stick to walls or speakers, and another would be on a robotic arm.

It’s all part of this big push they call “Apple Intelligence” to make our homes smarter and more connected.
