Android’s AI Circle to Search Gets New UI, Floating Action Button

Circle to Search New UI Button

Google is bringing a refreshed UI with a new floating action button to Android’s AI Circle to Search feature. The functionality improved after the initial debut with Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series.

The new UI and floating action button aim to simplify the AI Circle to Search feature accessibility. While the triggering method remains unchanged, the FAB allows easier selection toward required functionality.

The latest update to the Google app applies the change on many supported phones. There’s a new Menu expansion button that showcases three functionalities for the Circle to Search feature;

  1. Translate
  2. Identify a song
  3. Google Lens

The listing of the Translate feature is unnecessary here. The reason is: that the FAB button is accompanied by the Translate button on the Circle to Search activation page. It should be replaced with any other feature in the future.

Dynamic Color is also applied to the FAB button and its in-section functions. The button is painted with Dynamic Color that looks elegant. The functions remain in squircle pill painted in legacy White colorway.

Samsung and Google kept Circle to Search limited on Galaxy and Pixel phones for three quarters. Starting in October, the innovative search method started to expand across the Android ecosystem, with Oppo’s ColorOS 15 being the most recent entry.
