Samsung could retire ‘Galaxy’ from flagships for something new

Samsung Galaxy

Samsung is said to be considering retiring the Galaxy name from future flagships. It’s odd to hear such a rumor as the “Galaxy” brand is now undetectable from Samsung.

Rumor has it that Samsung could bring a brand-new identity to its most premium flagship devices. The move could differentiate Samsung’s S and Z series devices that fall under the expensive range.

Earlier this year, Samsung’s Lee Young-hee said “Galaxy has so many lineups that I understand people are expecting a new name when there is an innovative turning point.”

E-Today (via SamMobile) revealed the possibility of a new brand from Samsung for flagship devices. However, an idea about the branding or naming strategy remains to be known in the future if Samsung pens out the decision.

Samsung or Galaxy – What do you use?

I have an S23 Ultra, which I often call the Galaxy S23 Ultra, not the Samsung S23 Ultra. As a tech writer, I am aware of the brand reputation of “Galaxy” but the majority of the audience calls it Samsung S23 Ultra.

While exploring reader interests from Search Console, I often identify queries like “samsung s25 ultra release date,” “samsung s24 ultra deals,” “samsung s24 update,” and so on.

It suggests Samsung and Galaxy both are deeply blended with each other. Galaxy is nothing without Samsung, but Samsung can surely debut a new branding that could be heavier than its Galaxy.

Next flagships – Samsung or Samsung Galaxy?

A branding revamp could materialize in the future, which is nearly uncertain next year. The next year’s flagship could continue to feature Galaxy to be called the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

Expect the S25 release in January, with epic announcements on One UI 7, One UI 7.1, Galaxy AI, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, and so on. Are you excited for the next Galaxy, let us know through comments!
