If you love photography but don’t want to invest in a real camera, and you like using your Apple iPhone for photos, Leica has a new accessory for you. The Leica Lux Grip for iPhone is a camera grip designed to make holding your phone easier when taking pictures. It’s made by Leica, so it’s high-end and pricey, costing €300.
The grip feels like a classic Leica camera and weighs just 130g. It works for both left- and right-handed users, and its battery can last for up to 1,000 shots. It charges in 2 hours via USB-C. The grip attaches to your iPhone using MagSafe and connects to the phone via Bluetooth LE. It also comes with its own app called the Leica Lux app.
One cool feature of the grip is the two-stage shutter release: press it lightly to focus, and press it fully to take the photo. There’s also a button for switching between shooting modes and a customizable dial for adjusting camera settings like zoom, aperture, shutter speed, and exposure. You can even customize the button and dial through the app.
With the Leica Lux Grip, you get more control over your photos, just like a real camera, but using your iPhone. If you upgrade your iPhone later, you can still use the grip by just replacing the MagSafe base plate.
The app adds special Leica effects, like the look of famous Leica lenses and various photo styles, including vibrant colors or classic black-and-white. Plus, when you register the grip, you get a free one-year subscription to the Pro version of the app.
