Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Could Bring Back Exynos Chipset

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

The new Samsung Galaxy S25 series, released today, uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset globally. This is because Samsung faced problems with its own Exynos 2500 chip, which was supposed to be used in some regions. Now, it looks like the Exynos 2500 will power the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 instead.

However, Samsung might return to using its Exynos chips next year with the Galaxy S26 series. A recent report says that production for the new Exynos 2600 chip is going well, with better-than-expected results.

Currently, about 30% of the test production is successful, which is a good sign. If everything continues smoothly, mass production of the Exynos 2600 should start in the last quarter of this year, in time for the Galaxy S26 release in January 2026.

The Exynos 2600 will be made using Samsung’s SF2 2nm process, which should be ready for full production by the second half of 2025. This new process will make the chip perform 12% better, use 25% less power, and be 5% smaller than the previous 3nm SF3 process.

Samsung is putting a lot of effort into making sure the Exynos 2600 is ready on time and avoids the delays seen with the Exynos 2500. If more problems happen, it could hurt Samsung’s business, especially in its non-memory division, which could suffer big losses.
