Apple iPhone SE 4 will ditch notch for Dynamic Island upgrade

On Monday, renowned leaker Evan Blass revealed that the next iPad Air will feature an M3 chip upgrade, not the M4 as some predicted. Just hours later, he disclosed a new design for the iPhone SE 4, replacing the traditional notch with the Dynamic Island.

Blass, known by his “evleaks” pseudonym, has a history of accurate leaks, including one before WWDC 2023 about the Apple Vision Pro. The leaked image shows what appears to be the iPhone SE 4, anticipated to ditch its home button for an edge-to-edge display with Face ID. This aligns with other rumors, including those from leaker Sonny Dickson, who showcased a dummy model of the iPhone SE 4 with a similar design.

This redesign could significantly impact Apple’s budget-friendly lineup. Dynamic Island on the iPhone SE 4 would bring a premium feature to a more affordable price point, potentially increasing its appeal. Additionally, if equipped with the A18 chip, the iPhone SE 4 could be the cheapest way to access Apple’s latest AI capabilities, known as “Apple Intelligence.”

The expected launch in Spring 2025 positions these devices for a market eager for innovation at accessible prices. The rumored $499 starting price for the iPhone SE 4 suggests Apple’s commitment to keeping the SE line affordable despite the upgrades.

As we edge closer to the expected release, these leaks give us an exciting glimpse into Apple’s strategy to refresh its product lineup. Whether these changes will redefine the mid-tier market remains to be seen, but for now, anticipation is building.

Keep an eye out for further announcements from Apple as we approach Spring 2025.
