Samsung’s One UI 7 Enables Call Recording for US Galaxy Users

On December 5th, Samsung officially launched the One UI 7 Beta program for the Galaxy S24 series in select countries. The update comes with exciting visual enhancements as well as upgraded personalization, productivity, and security.

With One UI 7, Samsung is bringing a new and useful feature called “Call Transcript,” which allows US Galaxy device users to record phone calls and save both an audio file of the call and a transcript created by AI.

This has always been tricky in the US due to legal reasons, but now it’s becoming more common.

The feature allows users to start recording a call manually while it’s happening. When the recording starts, both people on the call will hear a message saying that the call is being recorded. You’ll need to start the recording for each new call manually.

This is similar to Google’s “Call Notes” on Pixel devices, which also records calls and gives users a summary, as well as Apple’s new feature in iOS 18 for iPhones.

Samsung’s feature supports a total of 29 languages including local dialects: Arabic, Chinese (China mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan), English (Australia, India, United Kingdom, United States), Dutch, French (Canada, France), German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil, Europe), Romanian, Russian, Spanish (Mexico, Spain, United States), Swedish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Right now, it’s available in the One UI 7 Beta program, but it will likely be included in the full update next year.
